What is Virtual Team Building?
In traditional team building, trust is built by creating a situation in which team members have a common adventure experience or where they have to perform some task together as a group. In virtual Team Building, distributed team members build communication and trust by competing in teams within a virtual world. Important business concepts can be introduced in this fun non threatening amusing environment. What are the benefits of a murder mystery team building event?
- It brings about a sense of belonging, with everyone being in the same place, among people who are all in the same situation. A real leveller!
- It brings about quick bonding. Team members feel connected immediately as they get involved in the plot. People are not as shy when they play a role or are "wearing a mask" Consequently you interact with everyone. It stops cliques.
- Peer pressure can be leveraged to bring in stragglers in a non threatening way.
- It is the most non threatening environment. Nothing you say or do can be perceived as wrong, or not good enough, as nobody knows whether you are acting your part or not.
- There is nothing like humour and laughter and a relaxed atmosphere to break down barriers and bond a team.
- The usual benefits of trust camaraderie communication, consideration, responsibility empathy thread the event together.
What theme should I choose?
We write our own original and witty stories. You can choose a generic theme such as "Mafia and a Maori?", "A Bout of Africa", "Soccer Shark 2010", "A Blast at last", "Zen Phobia", "The Widows Mite", "Medieval Mayhem". Alternatively we can write the theme to suit your business. This means the mystery can be very topical and relate to what is presently going on in South Africa. Click here to view more themes. Do I have to act and get dressed up?
Participants remain in character for the duration of the event. (Yes we would like you to dress the part!). However they do not have to ‘act’ or remember scripted lines. It is more of an interactive improvisation. Everyone will be given a role and are free to get involved as little or as much as they like. This creates a perfect blend of fun.
How many people can attend?
The groups usually vary between 20 and 60.
What do we do all day?
You will be participating in whatever fun activities have been chosen. Remember you will still be playing your part, taking note of what see, and making sure that you are not being set up to be murdered or accused of it.
How do I know that this Murder activity will be suitable for our staff?
Most of the "Spinechillers" murder plots are written from a South African aspect. The humour and characters relate to our culture (yes even if it is Mafia theme!!) We do not run the typical Agatha Christie type murder, which some people in SA do not relate to. The success of these events lies in the active participation.
What if we can’t solve the murder?
The team with the most original and amusing story will win the prizes.
What does it cost?
Pricing is extremely competitive compared with traditional team building, particularly when travel costs and time away from work count.
